A little bit about myself...I was born into a very musical family. I have been playing music since I was 5 years old. I started at 5 with the ukelele, then moved to guitar. I played clarinet in the school band and started singing and performing at 10 as well. My formal education is in nursing and social work. I have also been a Braille Interpreter and know how to adapt written words to braille and vice versa, if needed.
I have been giving guitar lessons for over 30 years. I love working with music and introducing its joy to others. I coordinated music programs for Durham Elementary School for years (Christmas and Grandparents Day programs) and still volunteer there doing music with students getting them to sing and move with songs... all having fun!!
My philosophy is that music is supposed to be fun...only fun. I encourage that in my lessons. I have taught students from 4 years old to 70 years old. I have also worked with children with special needs (from autism to visually impaired). I believe everyone can enjoy and experience music on their own level and be successful.
I would love to talk to you about guitar lessons!! I am available for lessons in the afternoon during the week.
I have references available if you would like to speak to students who I have worked with or to who I am currently giving lessons.
I look forward to hearing from you!
