Teaching Approach
Focus on the most important tools and techniques found in contemporary guitar styles (Rock, Blues, Country, Funk, R&B, Jazz). These include essential knowledge of scale shapes (Major Scale, Natural Minor Scale, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor, Hungarian Minor, Pentatonic Scales, etc.), arpeggios, chord shapes (Open Chords, Barre Chords, Form Chords, Closed & Open Triads, etc.), basic theory, right and left hand technique (tapping, legato runs, scratch lines, hammer on, pull off, etc.), and of course mapping the notes on the neck. Also, build a solid repertoire of cool guitar oriented tunes.
More advanced students may want to study Sight-reading, Single Line/Soloing Techniques, Modes (and more importantly how to apply them), Exotic Pentatonic Scales, Advanced Theory (Re-harmonization, etc.), and other such topics.
