Regardless of the style of music you wish to play, your skill level, or your learning style, it is my goal as a teacher to work with you in identifying and achieving your personal goals as a guitarist. My own musical path has taken many turns - I have toured the U.S. and Europe in a heavy metal band, played solo acoustic folk music, studied classical guitar as well as jazz and general music theory, and just mostly let the guitar lead me where it would.
The way I teach is very flexible and depends on the needs and personality of the student. Lessons can be very structured or more freeform, and the topics we can cover are virtually limitless. Many of my students have worked on such things as:
- Beginning technique
- Note reading
- Music theory
- Applied/practical music theory (through the C.A.G.E.D. system)
- Intermediate/advanced technique
- Genre-specific study (rock/heavy metal, classical, jazz, folk, etc.)
- Singing while playing
- Ear training
The list could go on and on. The guitar has a lot to offer those who dedicate themselves to it; it’s up to you to decide how far you want to go. My hope is to be there as a guide in your musical journey and to make it as fulfilling as possible.
Lessons are a half hour in length and take place once a week at The Music Connection.
