Originally from Honolulu, Cara Okano Herrick earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, and a doctoral degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene.  In 2005 she gave her New York debut at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, and in 2007 was awarded to perform a movement of Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major with the University Orchestra in Eugene, Oregon.  

Cara is a keyboardist with the North State Symphony, an accompanist for the Center for Spiritual Living in Chico, and an active solo and chamber music performer. She has taught applied and group piano classes at Punahou School and at Yuba Community College, and serves on staff at CSU, Chico, when needed.  She welcomes students of all ages, interests, and abilities into her studio, and may be reached through the Music Connection or by email at
