I’m a professional musician with almost 10 years of performing, composing and teaching piano to all age groups. I have a deep love and respect for the art of music and I have a passion for seeing that love grow in the students that I teach.
B.A. in Music from CSU, Chico
(double options in Recording Arts and Music Industry)
M.A. in Jazz Composition from CSU, Sacramento
While I am well versed in the theory and performance in many styles of music, jazz and other improvised forms of music have become my forte. I currently work professionally as a performer, arranger, and composer in addition to teaching. I am currently the keyboardist for Bogg, Big Mo and The Full Moon Band, as well as sitting with a wide range of bands in the North State. I am also a founding member and currently the Managing Director for Uncle Dad’s Art Collective, a non-profit performance art group that stages shows at Laxson Auditorium, Sierra Nevada Big Room, and more.
For my students, my main objective is to get them comfortable with the performance aspects of music and then fill in the gaps with the theory behind what they are playing. I love “opening the hood” on popular music and having students understand what makes the songs the like sound the way they do.
