About Us - Redding
A Local Music LegendThe Music Connection building at 3086 Bechelli Lane has been a local music landmark for over 40 years. The iconic Bernie’s Guitar opened there in 1974, run by local music legend Bernie Baker. For 38 years he gave lessons, tuned instruments, outfitted musicians with the tools they needed, played and recorded jazz, and provided live performance space for local musicians.
When Bernie’s Guitar closed in 2012, Sally and Bruce MacMillan of The Music Connection in Chico stepped up to keep the legend alive, by opening The Music Connection in the former Bernie’s Guitar location and hiring Bernie himself to manage it.
The Music Connection embraces the rich history of Bernie’s Guitar while expanding its offerings to include violins, cellos, keys, and band instruments, aiming to provide musical instruments for every musician, including rentals, repairs and lessons. Sally and Bruce want to make The Music Connection a true neighborhood store, with a friendly atmosphere, where beginners mingle with local pros over the the guitars, amps, keyboards and drums.
While The Music Connection tries to match internet prices, our main focus is on customer service. We have an on-site guitar and violin repair service, rentals, accessories and a large selection of sheet music and books.
Make The Music Connection your meeting place for music in Redding. Owners Sally and Bruce MacMillan invite you to come in, browse around, get to know us and become a regular at the Music Connection
