Vianna Boring Renaud
A Chico native, she has recently returned from the UK. Graduating in Music from Chico State in 2001, she received her BA in Keyboard Performance, Piano Accompanying and Music Industry. She has taught piano since 1995, both privately and on campus at Chico State and Bournemouth University England.
She has also served as a church musician in Chico and the UK, a DJ in Belfast, and has performed locally as part of the Ivory and Silver Duo (piano and flute) and Poole bands The Professors and Itchy Feet.
She is student focused with the goal of enabling her students to be lifelong players. She has supported her students with their goals, whether that be for fun and stress relief, performing in ensembles or aiming for the more structured musical exams. These include the Music Teachers Association’s Certificate of Merit exams in the US as well as the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music Grades in the UK.
All ages and levels are welcomed

Teaching style includes using whatever is needed in order to be fun and educational, all aimed at providing a solid foundation from which the student can build.
Personal favorite teaching moments…
1. Holding regular recitals held at the Bournemouth University campus in celebration of Mother’s Day (March), Father’s Day (June), Grandparent’s Day (October) and Winter Celebration (December).
2. Supporting ensemble work through duets and collaborative working
3. Continuing lessons online throughout the pandemic and having multiple students achieve high marks on the online ABRSM exams
4. Using different means of teaching for greater engagement; ie. GarageBand for composition, stage presence coaching for students in rock bands, music history for better understanding of the particular piece, exploration of cultural music for my students with a bi-cultural heritage.
